but if it is my choice to be predictable, than it is free will , right ?

I really don’t see the problem actually. There’s so many videos on it and yet I still don’t understand what the fuzz is about.

    Parts of the …
Parts of the universe can be arranged into forms that are deterministic. A computer behaves deterministicly, even if it’s constituent parts might not. Also, there is strong evidence of inherent randomness in the universe. Neither of these facets offer a “free will” that is what most people conceive of. IMHO, what we perceive as free will is a result of a deterministic but inherently unpredictable (chaotic) process. See Gödel Escher Bach for the “tangled loops” that result in chaotic processes.

    One consequence of …
One consequence of the belief in determinism as making certain behavior inevitable occurs in economic policies where it will be assumed that if the government taxes more then everyone will basically continue to behave as before only now the government will get way more money w/o much impact on the economy. Governments seem to make policies via assuming a level of determinism in human behavior which is just not accurate in dealing with people making new choices with changes made via policies.

    Determinism in the …
Determinism in the sense of everything existing in causal relationships is consistent with having a relational type of free will where the individual mind isn’t only about one isolated brain but is also about language and influences such as advertising prior to making a choice. A given choice need not be inevitable just because it was caused, but the choices made could be predicted in terms of probabilities. Randomness can apply to the strength of our statistical models in estimating choices

    I believe your …
I believe your previous video on this topic hit the right note. Given the relative primitivity of contemporary brain science, the determinism/free will question is insoluble. My interest in the topic, therefore, is mostly focused on what I think are wrong paths, models and metaphors for a solution. For example, I’m convinced that the particle physics business is a dead end and probably fallacious.
